What This Poster Says About The Bene Gesserit In Dune: Prophecy

The Bene Gesserit Look Mysterious & Alluring

This poster does very little by way of revealing theplot forDune: Prophecy, or does it unveil the specific release date for theDuneprequel show. So far, early plot synopses have revealed thatDune: Prophecywill followtwo Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, who help to form the Bene Gesseritand face evil forces that pose a threat to the sanctity of humanity. According to early reports, this version of the Harkonnens will be “less extreme” than those portrayed in the Denis VilleneuveDunemovies.

Even though the poster itself did not illuminate the plot, it does hint at the tone ofDune: Prophecy. In the image, the Bene Gesserit looks ominous. Their identities cannot even be fully seen under the veils in their photo, making them appear even more mysterious. This element of visual obfuscation in and of itself creates intrigue, for the show will reveal more about who is part of the Bene Gessserit and how they come to partake in the group. It also sets the tone for how the Bene Gesserit might be portrayed inDune: Prophecy.

Will Dune: Prophecy Be Successful?

Dune: Prophecy Has Big Shoes To Fill

My opinion is always split when new elements are released forDune: Prophecy. On the one hand, theDune: Prophecytrailer shows so much promise in that it visually captures a lot of the expansive world in a way that can complement theDunecinematic world. On the other hand, however,Dune: Prophecyhas massive shoes to fill following the Villeneuve duology, especially considering how positiveDune: Part Two’s reviewswere. The new poster has me more confident inDune: Prophecy’s tone, but time will tell how the series ends up.
