What Happened in Dragon Ball Daima Episode #16?

The Crew Rescue Dende From the Clutches of Degesu

Episode #16 began with the group deciding on their next course of action–challenge the Tamagami, or rescue Dende? They opted to put Dende first, but soon came into conflict with the Gendarmerie Force. Vegeta handled all five of them with tremendous ease, and they were surprisingly amicable even in defeat, offering Goku some chips. Inside the palace, Goku and the other fighters forged ahead, eventually locating Degesu, who had taken Dende and was attempting to flee with him. Thanks to some aid from Panzy and Glorio, Degesu was captured, and Dende is safe at last.

The Third Eye, which was taken from Hybis last episode, was delivered to Gomah, who struggled to extract it from the belt. Gomah eventually managed the task using a plunger, and had the girl who acquired it from Hybis insert it into his forehead, causing him to transform into a massive, powerful new form that certainly looks like it could pose a problem for the heroes. With his magical power enhanced by an untold amount, Gomah may have just earned his spot as the series' final villain.

Panzy and the group rescue Dende from Degesu.

After rescuing Dende, Goku’s group decided to tackle the Tamagami next, but were shocked when they arrived to find that the Tamagami had already been defeated. That’s when Arinsu appeared, flanked by Majins Kuu and Duu, who carried with them the Dragon Ball. It’s going to be an all-out battle for control of the Dragon Balls, and fans will finally get to see Goku and Vegeta clash with Kuu and Duu.

Dragon Ball Daima Episode #16 Offered a Bit of Breather

Compared to the all-out brawl seen in episode #15, episode #16 was a far more subdued affair, lacking any major battles. The Gendarmerie Force were, perhaps unsurprisingly, pushovers when it came to fighting Vegeta, but it was fairly clear they were intended more for comic relief than as an actual threat, the way the Ginyu Force was. Things were still tense, with the standoff with Degesu being the most dramatic part of the episode, but it never felt like the situation was out of Goku and friends' control.

While the reveal that the First Demon World’s Dragon Ball was already in Arinsu’s hands was well known to the audience, it was still a surprising moment for the heroes. Knowing that these Majins managed to defeat the Tamagami gives Goku a good idea of their power level, meaningthey shouldn’t underestimate Kuuand Duu in the upcoming battle. On the other hand, Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta can team up to battle the two Majin, something they weren’t able to do against the Tamagami, perhaps giving them a slight edge in the showdown for the Dragon Balls.

Gomah transforms into a dangerous new form.

Of course, there is still one complicating factor: Glorio’s allegiance. The series has teased Glorio’s betrayal for a while now, and if it’s going to happen, this confrontation would be when it occurs. Will Glorio side with his boss, Arinsu, or will he remain an ally to Goku?

What to Expect in Dragon Ball Daima Episode #17

Goku and Friends Battle the Majin Duo

Episode #17 is entitled “Gomah,“although Gomah himself didn’t feature much in the next episode preview, which was longer than usual. The preview showed Goku’s group engaged in battle with Majins Kuu and Duu, suggesting that a showdown that fans have been waiting for will finally come to pass. Kuu and Duu have proven extremely likable, so hopefully the battle won’t result in their demise, but at this stage, there may not be room for mercy.

The preview also showed a dark power enveloping the floating island upon which Gomah’s palace stands, presumably the result of Gomah’s new transformation. This far more powerful version of Gomah could be a huge problem for Goku and friends, and it’s not clear yet whether they’ll have to battle him as kids, or if they’ll be able to reclaim their adult forms before the final battle. With only a few episodes seemingly left in the series, the final battle ofDragon Ball Daimawill be upon us soon.
