What To Check Out First?

All three games announced for PS Plus in March are worth checking out, and there’s truly something here for every player.Dragon Age: The Veilguardis a particular surprise, as it was one of 2024’s biggest releases. A long-awaited sequel to BioWare’s groundbreakingDragon Age: Inquisition,Veilguardis an immersive action RPG set in a thoroughly detailed and beautiful world. Characters, companions, and story are highly variable based on the player’s choices.Screen Rant’s review ofThe Veilguardrated it 9/10, calling it “a heroic adventure worthy of the franchise.”

Sonic Colors: Ultimateis a very different kind of game, but has its own charms.Sonic Colorswas first released for the Wii and Nintendo DS in 2010 - this is the 2021 remaster coming to PS Plus. It’s sort of a return to form for Sonic, who’s the only playable character in thissimple, colorful take on classically quick platforming gameplay.Screen Rant’s review ofSonic Colorsranked it as “one of the best 3D entries in the series.”

Finally, there’s theTMNT Cowabunga Collection, an anthology of games starring the half-shelled heroes from throughout the franchise’s golden age. It features 13 different games, including action platformers, 2D fighters, and, of course, the series of beat ‘em ups the series is best known for. There’s even online multiplayer functionality for players who want to enjoy co-op with friends around the world.Screen Rant’s review of theCowabunga Collectionhailed it as “a worthy selection for TMNT fans looking to delve into the past.”

Sony Makes Up For A Lackluster Streak

Classic remasters likeSonic Colorsand theCowabunga Collectionare pretty typical for PS Plus monthly games, but still represent a much-needed boost in the overall quality of titles offered on the service. Certainlya bigger surprise, though, isDragon Age: The Veilguard. Released on October 31 - only a few months ago - it’s almost shocking to see it on PS Plus so soon. For reference,Sonic Colors: Ultimatecame out in 2021, and theCowabunga Collectionin 2022 -Veilguardis the newest PS Plus game we’ve seen in quite a while.
