Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Dexter: Original Sin episode 7.After the mid-season hiatus,Dexter: Original Sinwas back in brutal and bloody fashion, and episode 7 had several bombshell story reveals to recap. After the cliffhangerending ofDexter: Original Sinepisode 6, Dexter was stuck in quite a jam. He had Levi Reed’s (Jeff Daniel Phillips) dead body in the bed of his truck, the police had found his dumping grounds in the Everglades, and “Handsome” Tony Ferrer’s (Roberto Sanchez) arm hadn’t been fully eaten by alligators yet. It was an incredibly suspenseful situation to leave the show in ahead of its mid-season hiatus.

Luckily,Original Sindidn’t waste any time in revealing how Dexter got out of that jam, or in making several other major story reveals. Almost the entirecast ofOriginal Sinhad some major developments in episode 7, from Deb’s (Molly Brown) major mistake with Sofia (Raquel Justice) and her volleyball team to Clark Sanders' (Aaron Jennings) conversation with Dexter about his sexuality. Of course,Original Sinepisode 7 also finally revealedwho killed Jimmy Powell, and the shocking twist is definitely worth recapping.

11Dexter Managed To Feed Handsome Tony Ferrer’s Arm To An Alligator

Dexter Convinced The Police He Was There To Work The Crime Scene & Slipped The Arm Into The Swamp

Original Sinepisode 7 picked up right where episode 6 left off: with Dexter speaking to a police officer with a dead body in the back of his truck. Thanks to some quick thinking, Dexter flashed his Miami Metro forensics laminate, and convinced the police that he was there to analyze the crime scene. Vince Masuka (Alex Shimizu) and Maria LaGuerta (Christina Milian) were already on the scene, and they told Dexter to take the hand’s fingerprints. They also told him to watch out for the alligators in the Everglades, which gave him a get out of jail free card.

Though he earned the ire of Maria and several other officers on the scene, Dexter kept Miami Metro from identifying Ferrer.

Gio (Isaac Gonzalez Rossi) takes Deb (Molly Brown) to school in his car in Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 Ep 5

Dexter knew that if Miami Metro could identify Tony Ferrer’s arm, they could link Dexter to the murder. His alias, Patrick Bateman, was in Ferrer’s ledger, and since Masuka had made the fake ID for Dexter, it wouldn’t take much to link him to Ferrer. So,Dexter fed Tony Ferrer’s arm to an alligator and pretended that he was attacked by one to cover it up. Though he earned the ire of Maria and several other officers on the scene, Dexter kept Miami Metro from identifying Ferrer. He even managed to get out of the police’s view without having Levi Reed’s body discovered.

With His Everglades Dumping Ground Discovered, Dexter Turned To The Trash

Though Dexter got out of his pickle in the Everglades, he still had the issue of Levi Reed’s body to deal with. Since he obviously couldn’t rely on the alligators to destroy his evidence for him anymore, Dexter had to think fast to find a new dumping ground. He ended up taking “dumping” literally, and Dexter put Levi Reed’s body in a dumpster. In just a few short hours, Reed’s body was buried under a landfill’s sea of trash without anyone knowing.

Levi Reed Is Wrong About Dexter In Original Sin – He’s Actually More Like This Serial Killer

Levi Reed compared himself to Dexter in Original Sin episode 6, but the eponymous serial killer is actually more similar to a different murderer.

There was one major problem with using the dumpster as a body disposal method: the smell.Dexter had to get into the dumpster with Reed’s body to cover it up with trash so that the garbage collectors wouldn’t find him, and he ended up getting incredibly stinky in the process. By the time he got home, both Deb and Harry commented on his stench, and his cover story of falling into a swamp only barely worked once. He also had a talk with Harry where they decided that Dexter was having too many close calls, and that he should be trying not to “dodge bullets” at all.

9Sofia Thought Dexter Was Cheating On Her Because She Found A Condom In His Car

Sofia Almost Forgave Dexter For Dodging Her Calls But Saw A Condom From The Dumpster

Another unintended consequence of Dexter’s improptu dumping grounds affected his relationship with Sofia (Raquel Justice). Sofia was angry that Dexter hadn’t called her since their last date, and she came to confront him while picking up Deb for school. Dexter nearly got her to forgive him by using the same lie of almost being eaten by an alligator, but Sofia found a condom wrapper on the floor of his car.Though the condom came from the dumpster, Dexter couldn’t explain it, and Sofia assumed he was cheating on her. She left in an enraged flurry without picking Deb up.

Dexter’s first romantic relationship seems to be over just as quickly as it began.

Throughout the rest of the episode, Sofia let Dexter know how angry she was with him. Sofia had been sending Dexter cute codes on his pager, like “I miss you,” and “why haven’t you called?” but those codes turned much more antagonistic after she found the condom.Masuka tried to help Dexter by sending a beeper code of his own, but Sofia only responded with a code that translated to “go to hell.“Dexter’s first romantic relationship seems to be over just as quickly as it began.

8Deb & Sofia Got In A Huge Fight About Dexter & Deb Got Kicked Off The Volleyball Team

Deb Said Dexter Wouldn’t Cheat, So Sofia Told Tiff About Her Car, & Deb Punched Tiff

In the aftermath of Sofia finding the condom in Dexter’s car, she tried to vent to Deb about it. Surprisingly, Deb came to her brother’s defense, and she told Sofia that Dexter was too much of a dweeb to find another girl to cheat on her with.Sofia was understandably angry that her best friend would side with the guy who cheated on her, but Deb only said that she couldn’t take her side all the time. Their fight only got worse later in the episode, at volleyball practice.

Dexter: Original Sin Revives The Most Tired Debra Morgan Trend From The Original Series

The Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin repeats a familiar yet tired trend of the original series involving Deb and her awful boyfriends.

Deb has been trying to get a scholarship to Florida State University all season, and the college’s scout only had to see her in the playoffs to be willing to give her one. Unfortunately, Sofia messed it all up. Sofia told Tiff (Victoria Martzloff) that Deb and Gio (Isaac Gonzalez Rossi) had stolen her car and left it on the beach inOriginal Sinepisode 6.When Tiff confronted Deb about her car, things got heated, and Deb punched Tiff in the face. Deb ended up getting kicked off the volleyball team, and she lost any chance at her scholarship in the process.

7Dexter Ensured Clark Sanders That He Wouldn’t Tell Others He Was Gay

Clark Wanted To Keep His Personal Life Separate From His Work Life & Dexter Agreed To Keep His Secret

InOriginal Sinepisode 6, Dexter ran into Officer Clark Sanders (Aaron Jennings) at a gay bar in downtown Miami. Clark wasn’t openly gay, and none of the other officers at Miami Metro knew about his sexuality, so he was understandably worried that Dexter had found out. He confronted Dexter about it and revealed that he moved to Miami because his parents disapproved of him being gay.Dexter assured Clark that he wouldn’t reveal his secret to the other members of Miami Metro, though he did wonder why Clark wouldn’t want to be himself at work.

How Harry Morgan Dies In Dexter & When It Will Happen In Original Sin

It’s already a given that Christian Slater’s Harry Morgan will die in Dexter: Original Sin, but the show has a big decision to make with its timing.

Original Sincould do quite a bit with Dexter and Clark’s growing relationship in the future. It already looks like the show is drawing some parallels between Clark’s secret sexuality and Dexter’s secret life as a serial killer, and using him to highlight Dexter’s need for acceptance. Clark and Dexter could also become better friends in future episodes, as Clark certainly appreciates Dexter being understanding and agreeing to keep his secret. There’s no telling for sure how their relationship will pan out, but Clark could continue to be a big part of the future ofOriginal Sin.

6Maria LaGuerta Convinced Captain Spencer There’s A Serial Killer Targeting NHIs

Maria & Harry Followed Up On A Stolen Car & Found A New Lead

Dexter had previously told Maria LaGuerta and Harry his theory about some of the NHI (No Humans Involved) victims they had been investigating. As Dexter explained, he thought all three of the murders were done by one serial killer who was trying to find out how he best liked to kill his victims. Though Maria originally shot down his idea, she later decided it could have merit, and she eventually presented it to Captain Spencer (Patrick Dempsey).Spencer was initially skeptical, but he gave Maria and Harry permission to investigate all three cases as though they were connected.

It’s a longshot, but there’s a chance Petrie could lead to the NHI Killer in a future episode of Original Sin.

Later in the episode, Maria and Harry got a tip that a car they were looking for had been spotted, and they went to investigate it. The car ended up being purchased legally by a father and daughter, but after impounding the vehicle, Miami Metro was able to connect the vehicle to Paul Petrie in Tampa, Florida. Since it’s the only lead in their case,Maria and Harry decided to go on a road trip to interview Petrie and see what they could find out. It’s a longshot, but there’s a chance Petrie could lead to the NHI Killer in a future episode ofOriginal Sin.

5Harry Apologized To Doris For Cheating On Her With Laura Moser

Harry & Laura’s Affair Ended Just Before She Was Killed By Hector Estrada

Harry had another flashback to his time using Laura Moser (Brittany Allen) as a criminal informant. Laura once again tried to get Harry to let her off the hook, as she was growing increasingly scared by the danger thedrug kingpin Hector Estradaposed to her.Harry only told her that she would go to prison if she backed out now, however, and Laura was so mad she told young Dexter that Harry’s name was Mr. Morgan. That effectively ended Harry’s romantic affair with Laura.

Dexter: Original Sin Makes Laura Moser’s Death Even More Brutal After 19 Years

The backstory of Laura Moser’s death was already extremely tragic in Dexter, but Original Sin makes it even more brutal through Harry’s flashbacks.

When Harry got back home to Doris (Jasper Lewis), they had another argument about his infidelity. For the first time, however, Harry apologized to Doris for cheating on her, and he said that he wanted to do everything he could to find a way through the affair and love her. Doris seemed to appreciate Harry’s apology, and after he offered to take care of baby Debra, it looked like their marriage could finally start to heal.

4Dexter Convinced Angel Batista To Stop Investigating Ferrer’s Death & Looked To Real-Life Serial Killers For Inspiration

Though Dexter had gotten rid of Tony Ferrer’s arm before they could take prints, he wasn’t out of the woods yet. Angel Batista (James Martinez) recognized the gold and ruby ring on Ferrer’s hand, and he was convinced he could find out who killed him. Luckily,Dexter was able to convince Angel to stop investigating Ferrer’s death by encouraging him to focus on Nicky Spencer’s kidnapping instead. There was, however, an interesting moment where Angel refused to accept Dexter’s notion that Ferrer’s death was justified.

Every Death In Dexter: Original Sin Season 1

There have been many deaths in the first half of the Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, including victims, killers, and a few key characters.

After getting Angel off of Ferrer’s scent, Dexter still had to deal with his body disposal problem. He couldn’t find anywhere to dump a body without his boat yet, so he decided to look to real serial killers of history for inspiration.Dexter had internal conversations with Ed Gein, the Butcher of Plainfield, the Son of Sam Killer, and John Wayne Gacy, aka the Killer Clown of Chicago. Though there were some funny moments in each of their disposal methods, Dexter decided not to imitate any of them, though he did ask some Miami Metro officers for advice.

3The Killer Cut Off Nicky Spencer’s Finger & Dexter Found His Blood On The Box

Nicky Managed To Stab His Attacker & Dexter Found The Killer’s Blood On The Outside Of The Box Containing His Finger

Just as he did with Jimmy Powell inOriginal Sinepisode 3, the kidnapper who took Nicky Spencer cut off his finger and sent it to Aaron Spencer’s house in a box. However, Nicky was able to stab his attacker with a makeshift shank in the process. Because of that,Dexter found a drop of blood on the outside of the box that he believed belonged to the kidnapper, which was the first solid lead Miami Metro could find. Later, he even discovered a hesitation cut on Nicky’s finger, which indicated that the kidnapper had some kind of connection that he didn’t have with Jimmy Powell.

Since Tanya mentioned that Dexter found the blood, he probably won some brownie points back after “screwing up” with Ferrer’s arm.

After Dexter found the blood on the box, Tanya Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar) presented all the evidence they could find to Aaron and Harry. They still had to wait for the blood report to come back, but Tanya assured them that if it was the kidnapper’s blood, they could compare it to any new suspects they brought in. That wasn’t enough to calm Aaron down, however, and he told Harry to do more to find Nicky. Additionally, since Tanya mentioned that Dexter found the blood, he probably won some brownie points back after “screwing up” with Ferrer’s arm.

2Laura Moser Met With Hector Estrada But Aroused His Suspicion

In another flashback, Laura Moser was approached by some of Hector Estrada’s men outside of her house. They brought her to Estrada’s lavish villa and forced her to strip down into a bathrobe before taking her out to the pool where Estrada was swimming. After inviting her into the water, Estrada and Laura had a talk about her ambition as a drug dealer and her motivations for turning to crime, all while Laura was completely naked. Estrada likely had her naked to ensure she wasn’t wearing a wire, but it was also a very uncomfortable moment for Laura.

Why Harry Morgan Didn’t Adopt Dexter’s Brother Brian Moser

Harry Morgan only adopted one of Laura Moser’s sons in Dexter: Original Sin, but the prequel show hasn’t explained why he didn’t adopt Brian yet.

Despite the awkwardness of their conversation, Laura seemed to make a good impression on Estrada. Hector Estrada ended up inviting Laura to a shipyard to receive a shipment of drugs and learn about the operation. Unfortunately, that was likely a ruse.Estrada told one of his men to keep an eye on Laura, and as fans of the originalDexterare aware, that shipyard would prove to be the site of Laura’s gristly murder. It seems thatOriginal Sinis finally gearing up to dive into Laura’s death and the birth of Dexter’s “dark passenger.”
