Summary
As of August 20, 2025,My Hero Academia’smanga has concluded, after running for a decade. The final chapter reveals the fates of many of the characters, includingDeku, the protagonist. Many fans were shocked to see him take a different path than expected. In the flash-forward scene that takes place eight years in the future, Deku was not working as a hero, he had a different profession entirely.
Deku wound up becoming a teacherat the end of the series, helping students on their journeys to become heroes too. Deku’s chosen profession, which allows him to instruct the younger generation and pass on his knowledge to them, is very similar to the role All Might took in his life.
All Might invested a lot of time and effort into training Deku, helped him become a great hero, and even passed on his Quirk to him. In the same way All Might “passed the torch” of his Quirk to Deku, Deku is “passing the torch” of his knowledge to his students.

Both Heroes Value Teaching and Passing on Their Wisdom to the Younger Generation
Some fans were disappointed to see that Deku did not step up to take All Might’s place as #1 hero and does not do hero work as his main career. However, considering his personality and goals, working as a teacher is undoubtedly the perfect job for him. The wisdom he imparts will survive far beyond him and deeply impact the lives of those in his classes, creating hundreds more talented heroes over the years. Although it may not seem as glamorous as working in the field, just like All Might, Deku now understands theimportance of leaving behind a legacy and preparing younger generations to succeed.
All Might came to this same realization when he was choosing a successor to inherit his One For All Quirk. He intentionally chose Deku because he noticed his unwavering determination and commitment to working hard for his goals, both crucial values for an excellent hero to possess. Deku’s life would have taken a very different trajectory without All Might’s assistance. Not just the fact that he gave him a Quirk, his encouragement and teachings helped Deku get into his dream school and succeed in battles. Now, Deku’s newfound teacher rolelinks the iconic pair of heroes together once again.
