One of the players whose power has been growing throughoutDaredevil: Born Againseason 1 is Vanessa, as her hands are covered in blood now more than ever.
Daredevil: Born Againepisode 8 concluded with Vanessa being the one to kill Adam and remove the obstacle to her and Wilson Fisk’s marriage.ScreenRantcaught up with Zurer in an exclusive interview to discuss her character’s shocking actions. When asked what the chances are of Vanessa facing consequences for killing Adam sooner rather than later, Zurer teased the following:
Ayelet Zurer: There will be consequences to everything, because that’s the show - everybody has consequences, but particularly what you mentioned, I think, for Vanessa, it’s all about gaining trust in this season, for her and him, I guess. Because the innate law is that they love each other and they’re like that [locking hands] intertwined and inseparable. So it’s going to be heartbreaking to see what she has to do to gain trust, but at the same time, it’s inevitable.
However, Vanessa killing Adam wasn’t the only big twist to come out ofDaredevil: Born Againepisode 8, as Matt put the pieces together that Vaness was the one to put the hit on Foggy Nelson. Zurer was asked if she had followed any of the big MCU theories that Foggy is actually still alive and how it would get complicated for Vanessa if Daredevil’s best friend wasn’t dead, to which she gave the following response:
Ayelet Zurer: Again, consequences are coming. There’s always consequences in the show to everyone, everyone’s action will have consequences. So it’s inevitable. I have to say that, when I read about it, I had to put it aside, and I sort of suppressed the fact that Vanessa is involved in this, and I didn’t deal with him until the absolute end. Because I just couldn’t take it. It’s like such a miserable, sad moment to see him gone, and then to have that tie to her somehow.
What Ayelet Zurer’s Comments Mean For Daredevil: Born Again
DespiteBorn Againtaking place in the MCU timeline,the Daredevil corner of the franchise has always done a solid job of actually having their characters face consequences for their actions in one way or another. As fantastical as the MCU can get, given thatDaredeviland, by default,Daredevil: Born Againare more rooted in the street-level side of the franchise, there aren’t a lot of ways for heroes or villains to get away with big choices like the ones Vanessa has done to this point. From Zurer’s comments, it’s clear that Vanessa will, at some point, have to deal with whatever fallout comes from the choices she has made.
When it comes to Vanessa being the one to hire Bullseye to take out Foggy,it makes sense why it would be emotional for Zurer as she has been part of theDaredeviljourney since the original Netflix series. Even if Foggy and Vanessa didn’t have as much screentime together, in comparison to other Daredevil characters, this is still going to drive a lot of storylines forward, especially with Matt finally knowing the role she played in all of this. What’s also key to remember is that Vanessa’s consequences could easily also come to follow her intoDaredevil: Born Againseason 2in 2026.

From everything Zurer revealed toScreenRant,it will be fascinating to see how Vanessa’s decisions to kill Adam but have Foggy killed will affect her journey going forward. SinceDaredevil: Born Againseason 2 is already filming, it remains to be seen if her moves in season 1 will continue to haunt her next season. But with one episode left ofDaredevil: Born Againseason 1, fans will know sooner or later whether Zurer’s comments about Vanessa facing consequences for actions will happen and how she will get herself out of her newest problems.
