Warning: This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again episode 8, “Isle of Joy.”

Marvel Studios just created a major plot hole by revealing the truth about Bullseye’s return inDaredevil: Born Againepisode 8. After causing chaos at Josie’s bar inDaredevil: Born Again’spremiere, Wilson Bethel returned asBenjamin Poindexter, a.k.a. the sharp-shooting psychopath known as Bullseye, inBorn Againepisode 8, “Isle of Joy.” Bullseye’s return creates a clear connection between Netflix’s previousDaredevilseries and the newDaredevil: Born Againin theMCU, but episode 8 also created a plot hole by contradicting a majorDaredevilseason 3 finale storyline.

Bullseye aiming his gun in Clinton Church in Daredevil season 3

Daredevil: Born Againepisode 8 saw Benjamin Poindexter murder and scheme his way out of prison, allowing him to disruptMayor Wilson Fisk and Vanessa’s Black and White Ball. Bullseye was clearly targeting Wilson Fisk out of revenge for the ending ofDaredevilseason 3, which saw Fisk break Poindexter’s back during the three-way battle at the Presidential Hotel. Bullseye isn’t only connected toWilson Fisk inBorn Againepisode 8, however, asMarvel Studios also explained a huge mystery that linked Bullseye to another influential villain, even though this doesn’t really make sense.

Vanessa Hired Bullseye To Kill Foggy Nelson In Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil: Born Again Confirmed A Huge Bullseye Mystery

Daredevil: Born Again’spremiere saw Bullseye return to kill eleven innocent people at Josie’s bar, one of whom wasElden Henson’s Franklin “Foggy” Nelson. Foggy was seemingly brought back to the MCU just for his death to be shown on-screen, but the reasoning for Bullseye targeting Foggy wasn’t revealed untilBorn Againepisode 8.“Isle of Joy” confirmed that it was Vanessa Fisk who had hired Bullseye to target Foggy Nelson, Karen Page and, probably, Matt Murdock, perhaps finding a loophole to Murdock and Fisk’s deal fromDaredevilseason 3’s finale.

Daredevil and Kingpin entered a deal that saw Fisk agree to stay away from Karen Page and Foggy Nelson while Murdock wouldn’t release information that would incriminate Vanessa and lead to her imprisonment. Vanessa hiring Bullseye to kill Murdock, Nelson and Page may have been a great work-around, andthis could have been another attempt by Vanessa to push the then-absent Fisk into officially becoming Kingpin again. However, Vanessa being behind Bullseye’s actions inDaredevil: Born Again’spremiere doesn’t actually make sense afterDaredevilseason 3’s ending.

Bullseye Has A Vendetta Against The Fisks In Daredevil: Born Again

Towards the end ofDaredevilseason 3, Benjamin Poindexter learned the truth about Wilson Fisk manipulating his life, killing Julie Barnes and pushing him over the edge to officially snap and become Bullseye. This spurred Poindexter to target Wilson Fisk himself, but he also targeted Vanessa, gatecrashing the Fisks' wedding and threatening the latter’s life.Since Bullseye tried to kill Vanessa inDaredevilseason 3, it doesn’t then make sense that he would happily end up working for her inDaredevil: Born Again, as he surely still has a vendetta against the Fisks.

I Can’t Believe Bullseye Totally Foreshadowed Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8’s Shocking Ending

Not many could have predicted the ending of Daredevil: Born Again episode 8, but a Bullseye quote foreshadowed this surprising scene.

Now, it’s possible that Benjamin Poindexter didn’t know who hired him to kill Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, but there’s no doubt he’d want to know who he’s working for and why his targets need to end up dead. He would surely have known it was Vanessa Fisk who hired him, which raises important questions that thefinale ofDaredevil: Born Againneeds to answer. Bullseye’s attempt on Wilson Fisk’s life inDaredevil: Born Againepisode 8 culminated in Matt Murdock being shot, but Bullseye will surely continue his war against Wilson and Vanessa Fisk in the upcoming finale.
