Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw ManChainsaw Manleft fans heartbroken following the release of Chapter #170, which harshly revealed the death of Denji’s beloved little sister in spirit, Nayuta. Where Part One of the series used Makima as the embodiment of control to destroy Denji’s will, Part Two uses just about everyone else to tear the titular Chainsaw Man down.Nayuta’s death left Denji with no family, and no one in his corner, except for an Asa who is too deluded by the idea of saving the series' protagonist to really know where to begin doing so.
There was hope, however, as fans noticed that Nayuta’s severed headwas missing a key detail: the birthmark under her left eye. The excluded feature sparked debate and theories about whether the head could possibly be a fake, created for the purpose of ruining Denji’s will to live and bringing forthPochita’s powerful true form. Unfortunately, for fans still clinging to the belief that Nayuta had just been captured and kept alive,Chainsaw Man’s newest Volume #19 shuts down any hope that the Control Devil’s missing birthmark meant something.

New Chainsaw Man Volume Includes Art Corrections
Nayuta’s Missing Birthmark Has Been Returned
Manga artists have incredibly grueling jobs. Most work around the clock while wrestling with deadlines and the pressure to meet expectations. While it can only be assumed what the average workday is like for Tatsuki Fujimoto, the newly released Volume #19 ofChainsaw Manincludes corrected artwork on panels the author felt he needed to go back and fix. One of those, to the dismay of countless once hopeful fans, is the addition of Nayuta’s birthmark.
The oversight was a detrimental one that holds weighty implications for Denji andChainsaw Manas a whole, affirming that the series' hero is in fact alone. However, the sting is surely helped by recent events in the story, which once again seeDenji rise from the ashes and find the will to continue fighting. As the Hero of Hell, Chainsaw Man always gets up after being killed, and so too does his human counterpart. Recent chapters have arguably been the weirdest thatChainsaw Manhas gotten, but all signs point to positive growth for the series' protagonist.

Denji is Back In Action, Despite Nayuta Being Gone
Denji Has Regained His Will to Live and Fight
While trapped in the strange world created by the Aging Devil,Denji goes through some serious self-reflectionand realizes that no matter what hardships he may endure, the possibility that he can find family is enough to keep him going. Whether that revelation is healthy or a sign of a slow loss of humanity remains to be seen, but nevertheless, the series' protagonist has reentered the fight, with or without Nayuta. By some miracle, or outlandish writing decision, the reincarnated Control Devil could still be alive.
Chainsaw Man Turns Tables on Denji With the Hopeful Teaser We’ve Needed
Chainsaw Man is famous for putting Denji through a lot, but a new chapter finally gives the hero a good reason to hope.
Luckily forChainsaw Manfans, coming across outlandish writing in a Tatsuki Fujimoto story is quite a bit more common than conjuring miracles. For now, however, it seems that Nayuta is truly dead, and Denji will have to continue figuring out his normal life on his own. Future chapters will likely include thefated showdown between Pochita and the Aging Devil, so fans will have to put their grieving on hold for some electric devil on devil combat. And Chainsaw Man will have to win before that quest for a normal life resumes.
