Warning! SPOILERS about Fire Country season 3, episode 8 ahead.

Bode’s progress in his dream to become a Cal Fire firefighter is undeniable inFire Countryseason 3, but his choice during his first call highlighted he might have become one too soon. Ever sinceFire Country’s series premiere, the focus has been on Bode’s struggles to cultivate his dream to be a firefighter like the Leones before him. If Bode’s biggest obstacle was the fact he had to serve his sentence inFire Countryseasons 1 and 2, season 3 presented a new set of impediments, in the form of his firefighting training for ex-inmates with Jake and Camden.

Bode’s Fire Country Season 3, Episode 7 Success Highlights Why Manny Is A Failure

Bode’s success in Fire Country season 3, episode 7 highlights his biggest difference from Manny, whose stubbornness risks jeopardizing his future.

Bode had to wrestle with the expectation he would have easily become a firefighter because of his being a “nugget,” or coming from a long family of firefighters. His grandfather Walter inadvertently impeded Bode’s smooth sailing during phase 2, and the opposite ways Camden and Vince approached firefighting put Bode at the center of it, making Bode’s Cal Fire training inFire Countryseason 3exceptionally difficult as a result. Camden would have failed Bode if they hadn’t saved the day together in season 3, episode 7, buthis decision didn’t change how Camden’s initial evaluation of Bode was sound.

Fire Country Season 3, Episode 8 Shows Why Bode Shouldn’t Have Graduated, Like Casey Said

Bode Refused To See The Bigger Picture In Fire Country Season 3’s Midseason Finale

Casey struck a point when he deemed Bode unable to follow orders, and his and Audrey’s first call inFire Countryseason 3 proved it. Feeling for the husband who had lost his wife and wanted to protect the house she designed at any cost made Bode promise that he and Audrey would have protected the house, showing how much Bode cared about those he protected. However,Bode’s promise made it impossible for him to see the bigger picture inFire Countryseason 3, episode 8, endangering his life and Audrey’s as a result, as he didn’t follow Sharon’s orders.

[Bode’s insistence on keeping his promise was] the only possible one, as Bode refused to follow orders if he didn’t agree with them sinceFire Countryseason 1’s premiere.

Not following a superior’s orders because he wanted to keep his promise was already bad, especially on his first day as a Cal Fire firefighter, but it made everything worse because Bode and Audrey could diebecause he was unable to see what was in front of him and judge it accordingly.Bode’s firefighting journey inFire Countryseason 3unfortunately presented various examples of Bode pushing superiors to give him more time, making his decision dangerous and the only possible one, as Bode refused to follow orders if he didn’t agree with them sinceFire Countryseason 1’s premiere.

Bode’s Disobedience Problem Will Create More Problems In Fire Country If Not Addressed

Bode Has Disregarded Orders For As Long As He Has Been Firefighting

Bode’s reticence in following orders has always been a part of him. InFire Countryseason 1 he went against Vince’s orders to save a horse afraid in a stable from a fire and a kid from a car dangling from a bridge, and he did just the same to reunite brothers inFire Countryseason 2, putting himself in danger by entering a room about to explode alone, even hurting himself in the process. All of Bode’s saves made him a hero, as he saved who he needed to, but went directly against the ordersof his superior officer.

Bode always ended up savingFire Countrycharactersby disobeying orders, buthis actions also endangered other inmate firefighters and Cal Fire firefighters. Cole almost lost his life to save Bode, and Gabriela did the same by jumping from the bridge to find him. Audrey staying back with Bode inFire Countryseason 3, episode 8 now risks the same.Station 42 has to do something about Bode’s disobedience before its firefighters actually get hurt only to protect Bodein his quest to save everyone no matter the orders, making it a key future storyline forFire Countryseason 3.
