The Gore-Eye Daoist is a secret boss inBlack Myth: Wukongwho you may attempt to beat for several rare rewards. This humanoid shaman uses many tricks to fight, from fiery attacks to poisonous acids that make them a challenging opponent. Even though this boss is off the beaten path, you’ll want to take it down for a unique transformation spirit.
Unlike some other secret bosses, the Gore-Eye Daoist is more like an elite enemy rather than a large, bombastic creature you have to fight. Defeat Other Bosses To Unlock An Easy Path
You can find the Gore-Eye Daoistnear the Windseal Gate Keeper’s Shrinein the Yellow Wind Formation area of Chapter 2. You have toopen the Iron Gatesin this region to access the part of the land where the boss resides. The only way to open the Gates is toget two keysfromtaking downother bosses inBlack Myth: Wukongas you travel from the Sandgate Village.
The Tiger Vanguard and Stone Vanguard bosses can both be defeated to drop both keys needed to open Iron Gate. Alternatively, you can try to beat the Second Prince of Flowing Sands, another boss found within Chapter 2, to find a way past the Gate without needing the keys. However, this requires you to travel through the whole Freight Cliff area, which is littered with enemies.
The Freight Cliff where you fight the Second Prince of Flowing Sands can be found within the Valley of Despair Region, so try to travel to a Keeper Shrine within that area to start exploring for a way past the Iron Gates.
Once you find a way to bypass the Gates, you can travel up a set of stone stairs leading toward a Luojia Fragrant Vine Tree. This vegetation in the desert should stand out near the Windseal Gate Shrine due to its bright orange flowers and the small rat enemy close to it. You should be able to see the Gore-Eye Daoist right under the tree, where you can attack them to start the boss fight.

Get Ready For Two Different Status Effects
One of the reasons why the Gore-Eye Daoist is such a deadly hidden boss is theirability to inflict the Burn and Poison status effects through their attacks. The Burn condition causes you to catch fire when built up enough, which slowly drains your HP until it is cured. Similarly,Poison inBlack Myth: Wukongmakes you slowly lose health as well over a short time.
If both of these effects manage to be applied at once, your defeat is almost guaranteed by how fast your health will deteriorate. You need to find items like Body Cooling Powder orAntimiasma Powderto cure Burn or Poison respectfully if either are inflicted on you. Both of these cures can be bought from different vendors in the game for a certain amount of Will.

Watch Out For Large Attack Areas
The Gore-Eye Daoist specializes in AoE attacks thatcreate hazardous zones that build Poison and Burnover a short time. You shouldstay on the moveandbe aggressiveto weave through the dangerous places this boss creates throughout the battle. Thruststance inBlack Myth: Wukongis particularly effective in this fight, as it gives you range against the Daoist to bypass the boss' AoE moves.

Charging Focus from light attacks will give you the chance to use a heavy attack to knock back the boss. Do this as often as you can to minimize how many attacks the Daoist can activate during the fight as a whole.
How To Counter
Mace Uppercut
When you are too close, the Gore-Eye Daoist will try and swing at you with their mace for a simple physical uppercut attack.
Find the right timing to dodge to one side as the boss uses this move with a slight delay.
Acid Thrust
The Gore-Eye Daoist thrusts their mace toward you, causing it to spray fiery acid close to you.
Dodge backward to avoid the initial attack, then dodge to one side to avoid the follow-up fire acid.
Fire Acid Slam
Slamming their mace into the ground, the Gore-Eye Daoist creates several pools of fire acid when their weapon strikes the earth.
Find gaps between fire acid AoE pools and dodge or back up from the boss entirely.
Acid Fire Rain
The Gore-Eye Daoist screams before slamming their mace into the ground, causing fire acid to rain from above and form small AoE pools.
Back away from the boss when they scream, then avoid the pools of fire acid.
Last Resort
At low health, the Gore-Eye Daoist detonates their backpack, causing an explosion of fire acid in a large AoE.
When you see the boss' backback begin to glow, back off out of range of the impending explosion.
