InAssassin’s Creed Shadows, there are dungeons that you can complete to gain both Knowledge Points and some extra loot, andone of the first ones you will come across is Old Kofun. It is located in the eastern section of Izumi Settsu, and you can get there by fast-traveling from Sakai and heading east. However, you can also travel there by foot, and, if you have traveled close enough, you should see it represented as a question mark on your map.
For this task, you will want to go into Old Kofun usingNaoe as your protagonist inAssassin’s Creed Shadows. This is because there are multiple sections of it whereyou will have to make use of her grappling hook. Naoe will be more suited to many of these dungeons anyway because she can climb and move more gracefully on the whole. This is a dungeon you may come back to in the story, but clearing it early gets you a lot of loot and allows you to open up a shortcut for later.

Finding & Entering Old Kofun In Assassin’s Creed Shadows
How To Get Inside The Dungeon
To get to the entrance, you will want to go on top of the main structure. It’s a flat mound, and the question mark on the map should guide you to the right side of the moundto find the entrance. It stands out once you look at it, andwhen you hop down you should see the crack in the wall. Squeeze through it and you will enter the dungeon.
10 Real-Life Locations Everyone Should Visit In Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an action adventure game with tons of areas that mirror real-life, making it an excellent gateway for travel buffs.
If you’re having trouble getting there, thebest way is to walk directly east from the Sakai Kakurega. Once it’s unlocked, you will be able to see the rewards which include someKnowledge Points for increasing your rankandan engraving that you can add to your weaponsonce you have upgraded your Forge.
Navigating The Old Kofun Dungeon
Finding Your Way In The Dark
This likely has to do with your console or PC settings, but the biggest challenge I faced was that it was extremely darkand hard to see, even with the brightness adjusted correctly. However, you can light various candles along the way,but this is not as simple to use as a torch that you can just carry. It is one of the fewchanges fromOdysseyandValhallathat I’m not the biggest fan of after navigating this dungeon.
You will first enter and turn to your right. There’s not a lot of deviation from the main path right away, although there is later. There is a chest once you get to the first main room with a casket, as well as a number of things you can light. This first chest willgive you a common weapon. I personally received a Covert Kusarigama of Reaping (Common).
You will then need to go prone to crawl to the next room just past the chest. Walk down the hallway and continue down the stairs. There will be another casket-like structure at the bottom of the stairs, but there’s nothing in it. Climb over the barrier and continue on. The next room you arrive at will have abalcony, a pool of water beneath it, and your first alternate path.
The First Grappling Hook & The Pool Room
The first thing you will notice is thatyou must use the grappling hook here. Swing across the room, and make your way down the stairs. At the bottom, you can either turn left or right.Turn left first, go to the end of the passage, and collect the chest. This chest contains:
Then turn around and take the right passage. You will have another crack to squeeze through, and a pool waiting for you.You must dive into the pooland head toward the left. There is passage next to a large rock, and you should be able to see some stairsassuming your settings aren’t too dark. Swim through and climb onto the next set of stairs, where you will find another pool and another place to use the grappling hook.
Getting Through The Crossroads
This room has four separate exits. One is back in the direction you came, but the rest are higher up than you can actually get to. You will want togo ahead and grapple directly ahead.
There is a small chest underwater if you want to dive into the pool. It containsIronsand, Leather, and Mon.
Keep an eye on the right wall as you head down the stairs after grappling over to the other side. There will be an opening in the wall right next to a light source.Head up that passage and follow it up, and you will find yourself across from the ledge that you couldn’t get to before. Grapple across again and open the chest. It was aShrouded Shinobi Hood (Uncommon) for me.
Then just head back across and down the stairs, and you can continue through the passageway. You will have to go prone againto get into the next section of the dungeon.

The Last Section & Final Rewards For The Old Kofun Dungeon
You will find a large room with another casket, but nothing to interact with. There is another room you will have to grapple across. There is aside passage that leads down to the water levelif you fall in and have to climb back up. For this grappling section, you will have to grapple a second time mid-air, so be ready to press the button again as you take off.
However, once you cross to the other side, you will be able to see Old Kofun’s chest. You will get:

1000
1

Legendary Trinket
Amaterasu’s Blessing
This will likely be your firstlegendary trinket inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, and you should equip it to take advantage of the stats until you find another one. After this, you’re able to turn to your left and go through the passage. You will have to climb on a ledge anduse your grappling hook to make your way back to the top.
When you reach the top of the stairs, you will see a wall covered in bamboo which is where the story bits of this dungeon will happen later.Take advantage of the tool resupplyso that you can then through a knife at the red bombs to your right. Once you walk through, you will have opened up the shortcut back to the entrance of the dungeon and can enter at your leisure later since you have completed the Old Kofun dungeon inAssassin’s Creed Shadows.
