Alien: Earth’s Story Explained - What It’s About & Who The Characters Are
As more details surroundingAlien: Earthwere announced, a brief logline detailing the basic premise was also revealed:
“When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”
As suggested by the title, Xenomorphs and other creatures have crash-landed on Earth with the Maginot. From there, the story appears to be similar to many of the previousAlienfilms. A group of soldiers, led by a young woman named Wendy, will lead the investigation into the wreckage and whatever horrors have come along with it, unleashing threats that will forever change the main corporations in control.
Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, and Essie Davis are just a few of the incredibly talented individuals who will round out the main cast. Another intriguing figure is Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, the CEO of Prodigy, who is putting morality on the line with his hybrid experimentation in the hopes of gaining more power through any means necessary.
ByAlien: Earth’s point in the timeline, there are five major corporations controlling the world: Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Threshold, Dynamic, and Lynch. Whereas Yutani is seemingly behind the collection of thecreatures inAlien: Earth, Prodigy wants control since the ship crashed in its territory.
Is Alien: Earth Connected To The Movies? How The Weyland-Yutani Origins Can Link To The Other Films
Connections between theAlien: EarthTV series and the rest of the franchise will certainly come into play, but much of the focus will remain on original characters and concepts. Considering the originalAlienmovie featured a crew that were wholly unaware of the mysterious alien life forms that presented such a huge threat, it would appear that whateverAlien: Earthreveals will have little impact on the other films.
However, it could present an interesting connection through the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. After primarily focusing on the Weyland origins and operational side of the company in the movies,Alien: Earthwill finally explore the Yutani familyand that side of the Weyland-Yutani merger.
As a prequel, the story provides the ideal setting to dig into this history, with the opportunity to overview the relationships between the two organizations and their founders, and the notable partnership.Alien: Earthcan also explain the corporations' initial interest in the alien lifeforms, stretching back decades before Ripley and her crew came face to face with such monsters.
