The Absolute Universe may not have a lot of hope in it, but it’s about to have one of the best-lookingFlashvariants that has ever existed.Absolute Flashis stilla bit away from its official debut, but a glimpse into the future is giving fans a peek at the new and improved Wally West.
It won’t be long before spring is in season and DC Comics has shown fans what they can expect this April with its latest batch of solicitations. The Absolute line has doubled thanks to new bookslikeAbsolute Green Lantern,Absolute Martian Manhunter, andAbsolute Flash.
Absolute Flash #2comes with several amazing variant covers by artists like Jorge Corona and Christian Ward. Corona’svariant gives fans one of the best new looks at the Absolute Flash’s costume, which shows off his black and white bodysuit, black and red half-jacket, and his yellow goggles with red lightning bolt earpieces.

This Flash is Reinventing What the Scarlet Speedster Is
During theDC All In Special,Darkseid’s physical body wasdestroyed, and his energy was dispersed all across the DC Universe. Most of this energy breached the dimensional barrier and settled on the Elseworld, an impressionable planet whose history and natural order was shaped by Darkseid. This world reflected the New God’s ideals, turning it into a place where hope was the underdog and people faced greater obstacles than ever. Heroes have finally started to emerge in this challenging world, but they have to overcomethe lack of the things that made life easier for their Prime DC Universe counterparts.
While fans haven’t officially met the Absolute Flash just yet, writer Jeff Lemire has teased a few things about the character, namely that this version of Wally West is going to be the first Flash in his world, with no legacy to build on. This would explain why Wally’s costume goes in such a unique direction and stands out from nearly every other Flash costume (though it does appear to take some inspiration from Prime Wally’s Kid Flash look). Regardless, it’s a fantastic-looking costume thatwill really help the Absolute Flash make the mantle his own in the Absolute Universe.

With No Legacy, It’s Wally West’s Time to Define the Flash
The Prime Wally West took a lot of cues from Barry Allen, but in the Absolute Universe, this Wally variant has nothing to reference. He’s got a chance to completely make the mantle his own, and he’s doing just that with a costume that breaks from the tradition fans know. While readers have only gotten a small peek at the Absolute Flash’s costume, it’s a smart look and one that will come to define what this version of the Fastest Man Alive is all about. Hopefully,Absolute Flashwill eschew tradition and stick with this costume for a long time.
