Elena “Ellie” Dubaich may quit her job working for Captain Sandy Yawn before the end ofBelow Deck Mediterraneanseason 9 ends. She brieflyjoined the seriesduring season 7. Ellie worked for one charter to replace Kyle Viljoen, though she didn’t return to the franchise full-time untilBelow Deck Medseason 9. She joined the crew as a member of the interior team and was quickly promoted to Chief Stew Aesha Scott’s second stew. Ellie had more experience than third stew Bri Muller and explained she wanted to work up to Chief Stew status.

AsBelow Deck Medseason 9 carried on, the cracks in Ellie’s professionalism showed. She spent most of her time on the showfeuding with Bri over lead deckhand Joe Bradley. Instead of putting her personal feelings about the third stew aside, Ellie used her status as the second stew to take out her anger at Bri. Aesha appreciated her help but was overjoyed whenCarrie O’Neill joined the crew as a late addition. Ellie’s jealousy of the new stew anddistaste towards Aesha may indicate she’s destined to quitthe series.

8Aesha Said Ellie Is Over Stepping As The Second Stew

Ellie Did Over Step Throughout The Season

As the Chief Stew, Aesha bit her tongue about Ellie’s behavior during a good portion of the charter season. However, she couldn’t help but call out her second stew’s behavior after Carrie joined the crew. Ellie felt threatened by the new stew and didn’t want Carrie to take her rank so late into the season. Nonetheless,Aesha entrusted Carrie not because of her experience level but because she worked quickly and efficiently. She had all the skills on paper to outrank Bri and Ellie, but her actions are what made Aesha lean on her during the last two charters.

The second stew critiqued Aesha’s quickness to trust Carrie. Ellie raved against the crew, inviting a new stew in her confessional interviews, and acted against Aesha’s orders when she thoughtCarrie was taking her job. Instead of listening to Aesha’s orders, Ellie stepped in one night and asked Carrie to clean so she could resume service. After being fed up with her passive-aggressive behavior all season,Aesha pulled her aside and told Ellie she was oversteppingas the second stew. It appeared that Ellie thought she had the power of a Chief Stew as the second, and Aesha let her know this wasn’t the case.

7Ellie Has Caused Drama With Bri

They Spent The Season At Odds Over A Boy

The majority of the drama inBelow Deck Medseason 9 stemmed from Ellie and Bri’s feud. At the top of the charter season, the second stew said she found Joe attractive and was looking forward to exploring a potential boatmance with him. However, after one of the crew’s first nights out,Bri hooked up with Joe behind Ellie’s back. The third stew felt they had no loyalty to one another and acted as she pleased. It was wrong of Bri to disregard Ellie’s feelings, but she undoubtedly took their hook-up far too personally.

Before Bri made out with Joe in the hot tub, Ellie mentored her and showed her the ropes of a stew. After their night together, she stopped helping Bri and acted vindictively towards her. As the second stew,Ellie went on a power trip and tormented Bri during work. Ellie made out with Joe on her own and rubbed their chemistry in Bri’s face. Their drama boiled over with numerous fights during charter trips, and Captain Sandy threatened to fire them if they couldn’t sort through their conflict. Ellie made their feud overly serious by bringing their issues to work, affecting their time together on the show.

6Ellie Doesn’t Have Joe To Flirt With Anymore

Bri and Ellie fought incessantly thanks to their hook-ups with Joe, though they chose to end their love triangle at the end of the charter season. The lead deckhand admitted he wasn’t interested in “choosing” either of them. Joe wanted to have his cake and eat it too, which he did until Ellie overhead him singing an immature song about herself and Bri. The stews had a heart-to-heart conversation during a night out before Bri went back on her word and shared a moment with him in the bathroom. Nonetheless,Ellie also contemplated giving Joe another chance but didn’t when he showed interest in Carrie.

Ellie was furious when Joe chose to flirt with Carrie instead of herself. She felt embarrassed that she opened her mind to spending more potentially romantic time with her. Their season-long love triangle turned Joe off, while the prospect of Carrie excited him. Joe admitted, in his confessionals, that he found Carrie hilarious and had chemistry with her, unlike his connections with Ellie or Bri.Ellie was furious about Joe’s actions and decided to officially cut tieswith him for her sanity.

5Ellie Already Has An Issue With The Fourth Stew

Ellie Thought Carrie Was Trying To Take Her Job

Ellie doesn’t get along well with fourth stew Carrie. She appeared to be threatened by her experience level after Aesha asked her to run service during her first charter with the crew. Ellie admitted she felt like a “third wheel” alongside them anddidn’t want Carrie to take her rank as a second stew.Instead of thinking about the success of the team, Ellie selfishly didn’t want to be demoted after working on the Mustique as an original crew member.

There’s no denying Carrie is a great crew member, though Ellie tried to diminish her talents to protect her ego. When Carrie was brought onto the crew, Ellie couldn’t understand why they needed the extra help. She was blind to the state of the interior team and didn’t notice that she wasn’t pulling her weight as second stew because she combated any critique offered by Aesha. No matter who joined the crew, Ellie would have felt threatened. She wants to be the number one stew under Aesha, and Carrie immediately surpasses her. Also, Joe’s romantic interest in Carrie does not help Ellie’s ego either.

She was understandably frustrated by the sudden shifts in the crew dynamics, but that doesn’t justify her bad attitude toward Carrie. Instead, Ellie should attempt to learn from the new stew’s extensive experience with the yachting industry. If she wants to become a Chief Stew like she claimed all season, it would be in her best interest to be friends with her senior co-workers instead of being at odds with them. Nonetheless, Ellie wasn’t able to put her ego aside for the betterment of the crew, which was another terrible moment for her on the show.

4It Was Alluded That Ellie Would Leave In The Mid-Season Trailer

She Fought With Aesha In The Clip

Despite her not quitting, the mid-season trailer teased her departure. Ellie and Aesha had an intense conversation in the teaser where she saidshe was “stepping over what your role is,” with a clip of Captain Sandy saying, “That’s a firable offense”immediately after. The editing alluded Ellie was going to be kicked off the Mustique for an incident that hadn’t been shown on the show yet.

However, they’ve since had that conversation, though there’s still plenty of time for Ellie to quit if she pleases. If Aesha had a team of four stews from the beginning of the charter season, there’s a good chance she would have fired Bri and Ellie for their immature feud. She ran with one stew during a charter onBelow Deck Down Under, and if she had Carrie’s help, they could have managed to keep the interior team afloat with two stews for one trip.

3Ellie Has Shown She Feels Isolated From The Crew

She Felt Alone After Carrie’s Arrival

It’s unclear who Ellie is close to within the crew. She formed a strong bond with Bri early in the season, and later, they decided to put their beef about Joe aside. However, thethird stew revealed on an episode ofWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohenthat Ellie had blocked her, so their friendship faltered after filming. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have many close friends within the crew, which has led to her feeling isolated. Ellie likely placed such an emphasis on keeping her rank as a second stew as a badge of honor and a way to keep her embedded in theBelow Deck Medseason 9 cast.

2Aesha Has Called Out Ellie For Her Shortcomings

Aesha Is Fed Up With Ellie’s Behavior

Aesha isn’t keen on Ellie’s performance as the second stew. She admittedshe received the promotion because there was no way Bri could step up to the plate.Aesha spent the majority of the season making up for her stew’s shortcomings. When she gave Bri and Ellie the chance to run a lunch service by themselves, they failed on the job. They were incredibly frantic and unprepared, leading Aesha to end her break early to ensure they didn’t drown in the responsibility. Captain Sandy couldn’t fire either of the stews because they were incredibly short-staffed, leading Aesha to make do with the team she was given.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9’s Villain Ellie Dubaich Is Jealous Of Aesha Scott’s Success

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s villain Ellie Dubaich wants to be a Chief Stew like Aesha Scott, but she’s too jealous to succeed.

Carrie’s arrival proved how disjointed the interior team wasall season. Bri and Ellie lacked experience, and because they fought about Joe all season, there was a lot of tension among the stews. Instead of taking accountability for perpetuating their feud, Ellie shifted the blame onto everyone but herself. She thought having the title of “second stew” allowed her the freedom to not work as hard, but she was sadly mistaken.

1Ellie Feels Stagnate In Her Job As A Second Stew

She Didn’t Think They Needed Help From A New Stew

Ellie isn’t having the best season as a second stew onBelow Deck Medseason 9. Aesha had to lean on her due to Bri’s lack of experience in the industry, though she didn’t step up to the plate on numerous occasions. Instead of asking for much help,Aesha did her job without complaining and pulled the heavy weight of Bri and Ellie. When Carrie joined the crew, there was an obvious shift in the interior team. She had a lot of experience, acted quickly, and did so without objection. If Carrie had been an original cast member, she would have been second stew, and maybe then Ellie’s ego wouldn’t have grown as large as it did.

Ellie had quite a mixed showing inBelow Deck Mediterraneanseason 9. Most of her time on the show was spent feuding with Bri over their shared interest in Joe. Ellie doesn’t approve of Aesha’s leadership as Chief Stew, and her discourse with the rest of the crew may lead to her being fired.
