The cancelation of9-1-1’s first spinoff,9-1-1: Lone Star, means that there is a huge possibility for the franchise to explore other spinoff ideas.9-1-1: Lone Starfocuses on first responders in Austin, Texas in a similar fashion to9-1-1, which focuses on first responders in Los Angeles, California. Other spinoffs could focus on different cities as well, or they could focus deeply on individual characters and their careers.

What set9-1-1: Lone Starapart was the combination of focusing on Owen Strand’s (Rob Lowe) move from New York to Austin and the team dynamics surrounding the stressful events that first responders deal with on a daily basis. Other spinoff shows could follow suit. Even though9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5will be the show’s last season and many9-1-1: Lone Staractorswill leave, there is still a lot to look forward to for the future of the9-1-1franchise.

89-1-1: New Orleans

A Spinoff Focused On Bodies Of Water And Cultural Festivals

9-1-1: Lone Starfeatures many cultural aspects of Texas and a spinoff that focuses on New Orleans could do the same. A 9-1-1: New Orleans spinoff would be an exciting addition to the franchise because of how culturally rich and diverse the city is. There are so many storylines that the spinoff could explore. The spinoff could introduce a completely new ensemble cast, or it could feature characters from9-1-1and9-1-1: Lone Staras they move cities or change careers.

Given the French influences in the area, a spinoff that is set in New Orleans would be a great way to explore plots centered on events like Mardi Gras or the New Orleans Jazz festival. These events attract thousands of people, which means the likelihood that someone will call 9-1-1 increases significantly, giving the team plenty of opportunities to help.New Orleans is also surrounded by bodies of water which could act as opportunities for intense rescue missionsfor natural disasters or accidents which9-1-1and9-1-1: Lone Starare known for showing.

79-1-1: Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most populated cities in Americaand the number of tourists that visit it every year means that it would be a great city to be featured in a9-1-1spinoff. The stories that could arise from the spinoff location are endless. It would be exciting to see characters from9-1-1orLone Starthat have left appear in 9-1-1: Las Vegas. Given9-1-1: Lone Star’s cancelation, the likelihood that a character from9-1-1: Lone Starwill appear in a future spinoff set in Las Vegas is particularly high.

According to9-1-1’s creator, Ryan Murphy, a new spinoff is in development.Murphy has said that the latest spinoff will be set in a new city,so a9-1-1show set in Las Vegas is not entirely unlikely. Given Las Vegas' glamor and cultural significance, the spinoff could be significantly different from9-1-1and9-1-1: Lone Starbut with the same buzz that surrounds first responders.

6Grace Ryder Miniseries

Grace Was One Of 9-1-1: Lone Star’s Best Characters

While a Grace Ryder miniseries would not be as exciting as9-1-1, a spinoff focused on Grace would bring back one of the best9-1-1: Lone Starcharacters.The9-1-1: Lone Starseason 4 finale saw Grace Ryder leave her team and familyto go on a mission trip to become a volunteer on a religion-based hospital ship.Sierra McClain’s 9-1-1: Lone Star exitwas shocking and so unlike her character. By going on the volunteer trip, she not only had to leave her career, but she also had to leave behind her husband, Judd, and her young daughter.

A show focused on Grace’s life on the ship would give the franchise a new niche by focusing on the stress that surrounds providing medical care in times of war and poverty.

A miniseries would not only bring Grace back, but it would also give the9-1-1 franchisea medically-focused series. So far, both9-1-1and9-1-1: Lone Starexamine the interconnections of all first responders, with a heavy focus on firefighting. A show focused on Grace’s life on the ship would give the franchise a new niche by focusing on the stress that surrounds providing medical care in times of war and poverty.A series focused on Grace would also be the only way to bring her back to the franchisefollowing9-1-1: Lone Star’s cancelation.

59-1-1: Miami

A Spinoff Focused On Sunshine And Emergencies

If the9-1-1creators want the next spinoff to be located in a city similar to Austin, Texas, then a spinoff set in Miami, Florida is the way to go. Both Florida and Texas have similar climates, storms, and cultures. However,a9-1-1spinoff set in Florida would have the added bonus of featuring the party scene of cultural hub Miami.

A spinoff set in Miami would be the perfect9-1-1: Lone Star replacementbecauseit would be similar enough to9-1-1: Lone Starwhile also featuring enough differences to separate the two. It would be great to see pre-existing characters from the franchise appear in a Miami-based spinoff. Characters like T.K. Strand and Carlos Reyes have made9-1-1: Lone Starinto a memorable show and having them reappear in a spinoff would also act as a glue that connects the spinoff to the existing shows.

49-1-1: Boston

9-1-1 Has Set Up A Potential Backdoor Pilot

A9-1-1spinoff set in Boston was already hinted at in9-1-1season 5, episode 15, “Boston.” The episode even introduced new characters to the franchise that could become part of the ensemble cast if 9-1-1: Boston takes off. “Boston” featured Kira, played by A.J. Cook, and Eli Cobb, played by Mac Brandt who both had significant ties to several main characters on9-1-1. Given the episode’s setup, it seems like it is one of the more likely spinoff possibilities by the9-1-1creators.

In the episode, it is revealed that Kira and Eli are close friends to Maddie, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Chimney, played by Kenneth Choi. “Boston” is one of thebest 9-1-1 episodesandits significance seems to point to it being a back-door pilotmore and more. If 9-1-1: Boston does happen, it would not only feature several new characters, but it would also mean that a crossover between it and9-1-1would be highly likely.

39-1-1: New York

Owen Strand Has Connections In New York

A9-1-1spinoff set in New York is the best way to reintroduce Rob Lowe’s Owen Strandafter9-1-1: Lone Starends. Owen Strand is arguably one of the best characters in9-1-1: Lone Starand the franchise will definitely not be the same without him. The premise for9-1-1: Lone Staris that Owen Strand moved from New York to Austin to help the local community after a devastating fire. Given the9-1-1franchise’s pre-existing connection to New York, a spinoff set in the city that never sleeps is more than likely.

9-1-1: Lone Star

Cast

A spin-off series of 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star is an action-drama series created for Fox. The series follows Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, a firefighter from New York City who, after having rebuilt a team in the aftermath of September 11th’s attacks, is brought in to form a new one in Austin, Texas.

9-1-1: Lone Staris already so intense, buta spinoff set in Owen’s hometown would likely be even more intense, as the population is larger, and the stakes are higher in a major city like New York. 9-1-1: New York would also mean that the aspects that made9-1-1: Lone Starso good could continue in the new spinoff. Several of Owen’s colleagues could also follow him as he makes the move back to New York, which would mean even more9-1-1: Lone Starcharacters could appear in the possible 9-1-1: New York.

2A Medical Team Led By Hen

A Medical Spinoff Has Already Been Set Up By 9-1-1

One of the most disappointing character arcs in9-1-1could also lead to the most interesting9-1-1spinoff. In9-1-1season 4, it was revealed that Hen, played by Aisha Hinds, started attending medical school in hopes of becoming a doctor and moving on from her career as a paramedic. Despite her attending classes for several seasons,in season 6, she decided to stop pursuing medical school due to the overwhelming stress and burnout she was experiencing. Given Hen’s motivation and passion for medical school and helping others, her decision to stay as a paramedic was anti-climactic and disappointing.

Hen quits medical school in season 6, episode 6, “Tomorrow.”

Despite the disappointment,9-1-1unknowingly set up the best potential spinoff. It would be great to have a show that would center on Hen as a medical lead. Hen could return to school to become a doctor or nurse and the spinoff could focus on Hen and her team in the ER.The show would be the first9-1-1medical spinoff, and it would also feature one of the most beloved characters in9-1-1. The show would feature the chaos that9-1-1is known for while also focusing more on the medical side of things.

19-1-1: Air Operations

A Spinoff Focused On The LAFD Air Operations Is What The Franchise Needs

Seeing as both9-1-1and9-1-1: Lone Starare similar to each other in the way that they both focus on firefighting and paramedics,the9-1-1franchise needs its next spinoff to have a different focal point. A spinoff centered on the LAFD’s Air Operations is exactly the kind of drama that the franchise needs. While the show would be similar enough to the previous shows, the emergencies that 9-1-1: Air Operations would feature would have high stakes and beautiful visuals.

The possibility of a spinoff centered on Air Operations was already introduced through Tommy, played by Lou Ferrigno Jr. Tommy was previously a firefighter at station 118 but has since changed careers to become a pilot with the LAFD. Tommy also has significant ties to other9-1-1characters like Hen, Evan, and Buck, which would open the door for cameos in the new spinoff.
