Black Myth: Wukonggives players access to various ability types, including Spells, Spirits, and Transformations. Some are better for attacking, while others are great at defense. Spells are the first ability type you’ll have access to,obtaining a Spell early on in Chapter One.
You can only have four Spells equipped at one time, so it’s important to pick them wisely. Which ones you choose to have on hand depends on your preferences and gameplay. If you’re more of a defensive player, you’ll want to check out these seven Spells.

7Use The Offensive & Defensive Spell Binder Spell
Increases Attack Power & Restores Health
Not the best defensive Spell out of the bunch, but it does recover health when cast, which can be beneficial when the Destined One is low on health from atough boss battle. Other than that, it’s a great offensive ability to have on hand as well, as it boosts attack power. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to use theSpell BinderSpell to your advantage, you’ll have to wait until Chapter Three, at which point you’ll need to embark on theTreasure Hunter questlineto learn it. Its effects last one hour.
Upgrading Skills in the Skill Tree can also improve its performance as a defensive Spell. For example, upgrading Boon & Bane removes all four Bane Stateswhen casting Spell Binder. This means any effects from thunder, scorch, frost, and poison are wiped from the Destined One. Upgrading Forgone, Forgained recovers even more health upon casting Spell Binder.

6Life-Saving Strand Will Save Your Life
Restores Full Health Upon Fatal Hit
For anyone facing imminent death, theLife-Saving StrandSpell is a lifesaver, quite literally. When the Destined One is low on health, this Spell will save him from his demise. Life-Saving Strand will activate automatically, plucking a strand of hair from the Destined One and using it to create a duplicate. The duplicate will take the Destined One’s place in death whilerestoring total health to the original.
Although the Destined One is restored to total health, healing items, such as the gourd, are not restored or replenished.

Unfortunately, those looking to use the Life-Saving Strand Spell will have to beat the game in its entirety andstart a New Game Plus to unlock the spell. Once aNew Game Plusis started, players will automatically receive the Life-Saving Strand Spell. You can upgrade this Spell by upgrading Skills such as Glorious Return, which reduces the 600-second cooldown of Life-Saving Strand upon killing enemies.

5Cast A Ring Of Fire For Protection
A Healing Ring Of Fire Spell
Unlocked in Chapter Three ofBlack Myth: Wukong, theRing of FireSpell is a defensive ability thatsurrounds the Destined One in a protective circle of fire. While in this circle, the Destined One’s recovery and consumable effects are boosted. The ring also makes the Destined One resistant to normal and elemental attacks from enemies.
Players canstep outside the ring to engage in battleand then return to the ring to undergo protection again. What’s more, the duration of the Ring of Fire can be extended by upgrading Flaring Dharma in the Skill Tree. To get the Ring of Fire spell, you’ll need to beat the Macaque Chief in the Temple Courtyard. This will be your second fight against the Macaque Chief. With only a 15-second cooldown, the Ring of Fire is a great defensive Spell to have equipped during boss battles.

4Cloud Step Away From Enemy Attacks
Escape In A Cloud Of Mist
If you’re in a pinch,Cloud Stepis a great Spell to use. Upon triggering the Spell, the Destined Oneunleashes a mist that is used to escape while leaving a clone behind. The clone acts as a decoy, allowing you to escape from your enemies. When you reappear, you’re able to unleash an Unveiling Strike attack. Not only is this a great defensive Spell, but it’s also a good opportunity to get some sneaky damage in. You can also use this Spell to escape a fatal attack if you’re low on health and then use the time between to recover.
Equip the Misty Cloud,Cloudy Mist Spiritto lower the mana cost of Cloud Step.
Cloud Step is unlocked in Chapter One ofBlack Myth: Wukong, which means you’ll get to enjoy the benefits of this defensive spell through most of the game. To obtain it,you’ll need to beat the Black Wind King boss found in the Black Wind Cave. you may improve the movement speed of the Destined One while in Cloud Step by upgrading Gallop in the Skill Tree. With a low cooldown of 35 seconds, you can use this Spell multiple times in a single fight to escape and launch sneak attacks.

3Turn Into A Rock Solid Form
Transform Into Rock & Deflect Attacks
TheRock SolidSpell transforms the Destined One into a solid rock statue. In rock form, the Destined One can deflect attacks, but only if the Spell is timed right. Casting the Spell too early or too late will render it ineffective. So, to make this Spell effective, it’s recommended to cast it just as the enemy gears up to attack. Use this Spell to deflect and then unleash an attack of your own.
Heavy attacks have a chance of shattering the rock formation, which can make using this defensive Spell a risk.
Rock Solid is another early Spell, obtained in Chapter Two ofBlack Myth: Wukong. You’ll need toreach the Crouching Tiger Temple and defeat the fake Tiger Vanguardto learn the Spell. Rock Solid has an unfortunate duration window of one second but can be used again after just 15 seconds. Upgrading the Rock Mastery skill in the Skill Tree reduces the cooldown even more, allowing you to cast Rock Solid several times in battle.

2Clone Yourself With A Pluck of Many
Create Duplicates For A Distraction & Make Your Escape
One of my favorite Spells inBlack Myth: Wukonghas to beA Pluck of Many. I’m someone who goes headfirst into battle, usually without a strategy to back myself up. However, A Pluck of Many gives me ample opportunity to escape the tough situations I usually find myself in.
Spells of the same type cannot be equipped at the same time, so you’ll have to make a choice. For example, since Rock Solid and Cloud Step are both Alteration Spells, you’ll have to choose between the two to equip at a Shrine.
When casting A Pluck of Many, the Destined One plucks a strand of his hair, chews it, and then spits it outto create Duplicates. The Duplicates are quick and can cause a good distraction. They can also fight on your behalf, but they’re fragile and can be quickly taken down by enemies. You can give your Duplicates more health by upgrading the Gray Hair skill in the Skill Tree. This spell is obtained in Chapter Two.

1Cast Immobilize & Stop Enemy Attacks
Freeze Your Enemies In Their Tracks
One of the best defensive Spells in all ofBlack Myth: Wukongis theImmobilizeSpell, obtained in Chapter One at the Forest of Wolves. It’s the first Spell the Destined One will learn. What I like most about Immobilize is not that it gives you a chance to escape, but that it gives you an opportunity to attack. While it’s great at defense because it freezes your enemy, it’s even better at offense because while your enemy is immobilized, you can unleash a series of attacks and do some decent damage.
One OP Black Myth: Wukong Spell Can Help Take Down The Toughest Bosses
Black Myth: Wukong introduces a spell that can help turn the tide of any boss fight, with the potential to get even stronger through the skill tree.
Using Immobilize prevents your enemies from moving and attacking. What happens next is entirely up to you — you canuse this time to flee, heal, or attack. How long the effect of Immobilize lasts is dependent upon the enemy. Stronger foes can break free sooner, so be careful and pay attention. To prolong the effects, use the Spell on a staggered, downed, or exhausted foe. Skill Tree upgrades can make Immobilize even better, increasing things like damage dealt and duration.

Using any of these defensive Spells throughout the chapters ofBlack Myth: Wukongwill serve you well. If you’re looking for an easy escape, choose A Pluck of Many or Cloud Step. If you want to deflect and counterattack, then Rock Solid is your best bet. Or, if you’ve started a New Game Plus and need a quick life-saving Spell, then don’t forget about Life-Saving Strand. No matter which one you use, you can buy yourself some time and regenerate some health to continue your fight.
