Outlanderseason 8 will mark the end of the series, and several questions still need answers. Over the past seven seasons, various plotlines have come to a satisfying end. However, others were left unfinished. Jamie, Claire, and their family have been at the center of countless magical mysteries, many of which have been left hanging. It will be the job ofOutlander’s eighth and final season to tie up all the loose ends and give audiences a satisfying solution to the overarching tale. Of course, after the finale of season 7, this has gotten all the more complicated.
Theending ofOutlanderseason 7introduced the romantacy series' most surprising mystery yet. After a mysterious visit from Master Raymond, Claire began to suspect something about her miscarriage back inOutlanderseason 2 wasn’t as it seemed. When she heard little Fanny Pocock singing a song from the 20th century, Claire came to the conclusion that the girl’s mother had been her daughter, Faith. Whether this is true or not has yet to be revealed. It will be up toOutlanderseason 8 to provide answersto not only this question but all those left unanswered by the series.

10What Really Happened To Faith Fraser?
Did She Really Live After All?
Prior toOutlanderseason 7, there was no question that Faith Fraser died and was buried in France. Claire held the baby’s body for hours, and by the time Master Raymond appeared at her bedside to heal her infection, Faith had been taken away. However,Outlander’s season 7 finale introduced the idea that Faith had somehow lived. It’s implied that Master Raymond resurrected or, perhaps, switched out the baby.
Did Master Raymond himself raise the girl, or did he leave her with a new family?

If this is true,Outlanderseason 8will have to provide answers regarding what happened to Faith Fraser after she was separated from her mother. Did Master Raymond himself raise the girl, or did he leave her with a new family? If Faith Fraser and Faith Pocock are the same person, then how did she die, and why were her children forced to turn to prostitution to survive? There’s an entire life here that must be explored.
9What Is Master Raymond’s Greater Plan?
He’s Clearly Pulling Some Strings
Regardless of whether Claire is right about Faith surviving,Outlanderseason 8 will have to explain what Master Raymond intends to achieve. He appeared in Claire’s dream apologizing for something he had done, explaining that she would soon understand what he meant. It seems he feels bad about deceiving Claire about her daughter and potentially keeping the baby away from her—but then why did he do it?
Master Raymond is revealed to be a prehistoric time traveler in theOutlanderbooks, so the TV show will likely dive into this as well. He seems to bea sort of puppet master, guiding time travelers like Claire through their journeys. What has yet to be explored inOutlanderis what he is guiding them toward. Resurrecting Faith (or leading Claire to believe Faith was resurrected) is only part of Ramond’s plan. What is the end goal?
8Why Was Jamie’s Ghost Watching Claire In The 20th Century?
Will Jamie Die Without Claire?
The question of Jamie’s ghost has been hanging overOutlandersince season 1. Frank saw the spirit gazing up at Claire’s window in the romantacy series' early episodes, but precisely why it was there was never addressed. At this point in the story, the appearance of Jamie’s ghost wasan omen that the man himself would die before Claireand that she would return to the 20th century, leaving him to wait centuries to be joined by her in the great beyond.
Of course, this hasn’t happened inOutlander. Jamie’s ghost was a red herring, misleading audiences to believe that he truly had died at the Battle of Culloden when Claire returned to the 20th century. Jamie is still alive and well inOutlanderseason 7, however, so season 8 will have to explain the ghost from season 1.Author Diana Gabaldon has said an explanation will come with her final book, but that won’t be released until afterOutlanderhas ended. So, the series will have to explore its own answer.
7Will Roger Ever Learn The Truth About His Father?
Jerry MacKenzie’s Fate Is A Mystery To Roger
Roger accidentally went back to 1739 inOutlanderseason 7, part 2, and wound up face-to-face with his own late father. Jerry MacKenzie was believed to have died when his plane went down in World War II, but it’s ultimately revealed that he went through the stones to the 18th century. Roger worked to send his father back to his own time. However, when Jerry vanished, Roger had no idea what became of him.
TheOutlanderbooks reveal that Jerrymade it to his own time and found his way to Roger and his mother in the underground during the London Blitz. When the tunnel collapsed, there was only enough time for Roger’s mother to toss him to his father before she was killed. Jerry caught Roger but suffered a fatal headwound in the effort. Without his dog tags,Jerry’s body was never identified, and Roger never learned who the man was who saved his life. InOutlanderseason 7, Roger said he may never learn what happened to his father. Still, it would be preferred forOutlanderseason 8 to deliver the full explanation.
Master Raymond may know what happened to Jerry and could potentially explain this to Roger inOutlanderseason 8.
6Can Jamie & Lord John Mend Their Friendship?
Will Outlander End With Them At Odds?
Jamie Fraser and Lord John Grey have had a strange but powerful friendship throughout most ofOutlander. They have been at odds before, but things really fell apart inOutlanderseason 7 when John slept with Claire while they both believed Jamie to be dead. Jamie might have let this go, but he was pushed over the edge when Lord John saidhe and Claire had both been imagining intimacy with Jamie himself.
As of the end ofOutlanderseason 7, Jamie has chosen to tolerate Lord John. They are nowhere near the friendship they held for years, and this is simply heartbreaking.Outlanderseason 7 will have to determine whether anything can be done about Jamie and Lord John’s relationship.
5What Is The True Meaning Of The Fraser Prophecy?
Did Outlander Forget This Prophecy?
Way back inOutlanderseason 3, Geillis Duncan learned of a prophecy indicating thatthe true Scottish king would be revealed following the death of a 200-year-old baby. She determined that this must refer to Brianna, who was conceived in the 18th century but born in the 20th. Claire killed Geillis before she could go after Brianna, andOutlanderhas basically left this plotline hanging ever since.
Outlander Is Running Out Of Time To Solve Its Forgotten Fraser Prophecy Mystery
The Fraser prophecy is one of Outlander’s more intriguing plotlines, but it has been forgotten since season 3 - is there still time for an answer?
Though the prophecy is quite different in theOutlanderbooks, Brianna is still a key part of it. It’s for this reason that she and Roger travel back to the 18th century after the drama with Rob Cameron since Brianna is in too much danger in the future, thanks to conspiracy theorists. Unfortunately,Outlanderseason 7 has cut the prophecy’s importanceout of Brianna’s decision to return to the past. CouldOutlanderseason 8 still manage to wrap up this story?
4Who Planted The Forget-Me-Nots At Craigh Na Dun?
Claire’s Journey Started Here
Another mystery from back inOutlanderseason 1 is the origin of the forget-me-nots at Craigh na Dun. It was for these flowers that Claire returned to the standing stones, resulting in her first big jump through time.Forger-me-nots aren’t native to Scotland, which is why Claire wanted to go investigate them. Had they not been there, Claire would have never met Jamie.
It has long seemed that someone purposely planted the forget-me-nots at Craigh na Dun, knowing they would lead Claire to her destiny.
It has long seemed that someone purposely planted the forget-me-nots at Craigh na Dun, knowing they would lead Claire to her destiny. There are dozens of theories surrounding this specific detail, with possible answers being Master Raymond, Claire herself, Jamie, or even Brianna and Roger’s children, Jemmy and Mandy. Hopefully,Outlanderseason 8 can finally put this mystery to rest.
3What Is The Extent Of Jemmy & Mandy’s Abilities?
What Else Are They Capable Of?
Time travelers inOutlanderhave varying abilities. Some are more in tune with the magic and can more easily control where they land. Some need gemstones, while others don’t. Some can move only backward in time, while others can travel anywhere they please. There have been hints inOutlanderthatBrianna and Roger’s children, Jemmy and Mandy, are the most powerful time travelers yet, but this hasn’t been explored fully.
Jemmy and Mandy share a psychic connection with one another and possess a strange, intimate connection with the standing stones themselves. It’s implied that this is becausethey are the children of not just one but two time travelers. It would be interesting to see how powerful these two could be. Perhaps, if Master Raymond returns yet again, the full extent of Jemmy and Mandy’s powers can be revealed.
2Does Buck MacKenzie Survive?
Things Aren’t Looking Good For Buck
Buck MacKenzie has become an unlikely, beloved piece of Roger and Brianna’s family. He accidentally ended up in the 20th century, but it seems it was destiny that united him with his descendants inOutlander. While it would be wonderful to see Buck continue to hold a place in the MacKenzies' lives, season 7 was full of hints that he wouldn’t live long.
History dictated that Buck died the same year he went through the stones to the 20th century. Roger was unsure whether this meant the man truly did pass away or if he was only assumed dead because he disappeared. Still, with the MacKenzie’s planning to return to 1779, it seems that there would be some further record of Buck. This, combined with the reoccurring pain Buck has been experiencing, seems to imply the man will soon die. Still,Outlanderseason 8 could reveal otherwise.
1Will Jamie & Claire Live Happily Every After?
Can They Finally Be Left In Peace?
Jamie and Clairehave faced a lot of roadblocks since they met one another inOutlanderseason 1, but they may finally be on the home stretch for a happy ending. The ending of season 7 saw the couple prepare to head back to Fraser’s Ridge, where they are sure to begin rebuilding their home. Perhaps this will be when they are finally left alone and can live out their days with their family.
Of course, this wouldn’t make for a very exciting story inOutlanderseason 8. If the books have anything to say about it, Jamie’s time with the military is not yet complete.More battles are sure to be in the Frasers' future. The big question will be: can they both come out of this alive? Hopefully, Jamie and Claire truly can live happily ever after, andOutlanderseason 8 will only present a couple of final obstacles for them to overcome. Still, only time will tell.
