Season 1 ofRivalsis expected sometime in the first half of January 2025. Though nothing is concrete,Season 1 has expectations for hordes of new content. The most notable of which will likely be new heroes, maps, and modes.
One of the coolest features ofMarvel Rivalsispowerful hero team-ups. These mechanics add a layer of strategic team composition and give more viability to lesser characters. However, this is not the only way character combos help. Some character kits just work so well together in creative ways that enhance the hero shooter’s chaotic gameplay.
10Magneto And Scarlet Witch Are A Basic But Strong Combo
Team-Up Combo
Magneto and Scarlet Witch are a simple team-up, but a valuable one in the right circumstances.Metallic Chaos from Scarlet Witch will temporarily augment Magneto’s melee attack to fire chaos waves, which is extremely helpful for getting a bit more range to his kit, or finishing off targets when his basic attack runs empty. Meanwhile, Scarlet Witch is a basic but handy DPS for dealing with high-mobility DPS and putting up consistent damage.
Unfortunately, the limited capability of both of these characters makes this combo one of the weaker ones.At higher ranks, Scarlet Witch becomes an easily avoidable character, and her ultimate, while powerful, is easily countered. Magneto has more luck with the flexibility of being a solo tank or supportive second tank, but he is not in that top tier just yet.
9Groot, Peni Parker, Winter Soldier, And Wolverine Can Isolate Any Target

Isolating targets is a great way to get a free kill or separate the enemy team, and no one is better at that than Groot.This versatile Vanguard is capable of dishing out some of the highest damage in the gamewith the right combos and can be made even easier with the right team. Peni, Winter Solider, and Wolverine work with him the best as each one has some kind of hard crowd control that can make his isolation talents even better.
These types of combos can work well at any level, but require better teamwork the better the competition. It is also incredibly flexible, asonly two at minimum are needed to make this work best. The other four spots can flex to other characters that suit each player’s needs or counter the other team.
8Psylocke, Black Panther, And Spider-Man Can Dive Anyone
Dive heroes can be hit or miss inMarvel Rivals, butwhen they work, these three are the best. Psylocke is a premier assassin capable of dealing massive damage, with a powerful ultimate to boot. Black Panther can be a bit trickier to be consistent with, but his dash reset makes him hard to kill. Spider-Man is the hardest of the three, but an experienced player turns this web-slinger into a true force.
This type of strategy works great for single-tank teams but requires proper positioning and timing. However, if the support and DPS of the other team can be killed quickly enough, this strategy can snowball.The three roles can also be flexible, replaced with options like Magik, Star-Lord, or an aggressive Moon Knight– Psylocke, Black Panther, and Spider-Man are just the ones that have the most complete kits to make the strategy work.
7Hela Makes Loki And Thor “Unkillable”
The Ragnarok Rebirth is another simple but powerful team-up,allowing Hela to revive or give a health boost to Thor or Loki whenever she gets a kill. These two, while not top-tier heroes, are popular and powerful picks. Pairing this with Hela’s massive DPS potential makes half the team immune to staying dead.
The one caveat to this team is Hela, becauseif the person playing her cannot get consistent kills, this team-up is essentially worthless. Secondly, once bans come in at higher competitive levels, Hela is currently a near-constant ban. Without Hela, Thor and Loki become a lot harder to warrant given the other options for the roles.
6Doctor Strange Can Buff DPS Ultimates
Strange is one of the most popular tank picks due to his versatility. However, one of his least utilized assets is the portal. Even with its long cooldown,this portal can swing seemingly unwinnable fights or break through a tightened defense. This is especially so when paired with DPS characters that can be easily countered.
Iron Man, Punisher, and Scarlet Witch are some of the best combinationsin this regard. The last one especially helps make up for how defenseless Scarlet Witch is in her ultimate. The other two utilize the portal to attack from unsuspecting angles. Though it is best with ultimate usage, Strange’s portal can also be handy for characters like Hela, Hawkeye, or Black Widow to get safer angles.
5Cloak & Dagger Work Well With Luna Snow
Cloak & Dagger is a powerful and versatile support that is not the top choicebecause of how strong Mantis and Luna Snow are. However,pairing this duo with Luna Snow can create a devastating combo for the enemy, and sustain for allies.Luna Snow is already an incredible characterwhen it comes to healing, and with the right player, she can hold her own in combat. Meanwhile, Cloak’s form is incredibly good at rebuffing enemies and dealing damage, while Dagger can keep most targets alive.

Luna Snow may not be as popular as fellow Marvel Rivals heroes like Spider-Man or Iron Man, but she is one of Marvel’s most unique superheroes.
The real power of this duo comes from their ultimate. Cloak & Dagger can cover portions of the field with an effect that damages enemies and heals allies. The heal is so strong and fast thatanything outside a Hawkeye headshot will struggle to kill someone in it. Combining this with a well-timed Luna Snow ultimate, which is essentially 12 seconds of immunity, these two supports can make allies unkillable for long team fights.
4Adam Warlock Further Boosts Star-Lord And Mantis
The Guardian Revival team-up from Adam Warlock is a sometimes underrated ability, and greatly increases the strength of Star-Lord and Mantis. The latter two are already premier options in their roles, sobeing able to passively revive to stay in fights or be more aggressive is a huge boon. Adam Warlock himself is nothing to ignore from the support position. He can deal out solid damage and his ultimate revival can swing fights easily.
However, the downside of this combo is Warlock himself.His heals aren’t as powerful as many of the other options, and he can be killed easier than most supports. In this regard, this combo, regardless of strength, is best picked in specific positions where Warlock can shine best, mainly defensive modes, or the team playing him can snowball most fights to minimize damage.
3Mantis And Luna Snow Are The Premier Strategist Duo
InMarvel Rivals, teams are at their best when they have two supports, and there is no better duo than Mantis and Luna Snow. Both of them are capable healers with the ability to dish out a fair bit of damage while having access to stuns. However,the true power comes from their ultimate, which can provide around 20 seconds of immunity to their teammates if used correctly.

At the DPS level, there is no stronger duo thanMarvel RivalsHelaand Hawkeye. The former is a powerful force at any range with a well-balanced kit allowing her to stun, escape, or punish. Meanwhile,Hawkeye is the only character that can instakill, and with proper aim and support can dominate entire lobbies.
The only issues with this duo are skill level and bans. Players who cannot actively hit shots will get little value with these two and would be better off with other characters. Secondly,in higher competitive ranks where bans exist,these two are banned 90+% of the time. Regardless, when these two are available, they are easily the most punishing combo of the game.
1Hulk, Doctor Strange, And Iron Man Rule The Ground And Skies
Since Hela and Hawkeye are consistently banned, this has allowed for the Gamma Charge trio to rise to the top. Hulk went from being a misunderstood tank to one of the dominant forces of the game in the right hands.This is helped by Iron Man being largely unchecked without Hela or Hawkeye to blast him out of the sky, combined with a powerful kit that gets even stronger with Hulk. Doctor Strange isn’t crucial to this combo but can provide for a stable force on the frontline and let Hulk jump around to cause chaos.
There is essentially no downside to using this combo, as every character is relatively easy to get value with. This is paired with the bonus that the more experience one has with any of the three, the stronger it becomes in the long run.The only time this combo doesn’t work is when Hulk is banned, which still leaves Strange as a viable pick, but Iron Man less so since one of Hela or Hawkeye is in play.
Overall, it has been impressive thatRivalshas managed to make all 33 of its roster usable in some way. There are, of course, characters that are at the top that have a distinct advantage, but with enough experience, any one of these powerful heroes can work at any skill level. However, for those who want the most success going into Season 1 ofMarvel Rivals, these are the best hero combinations to use.
